Guido is a slang term for a stereotypical working class white male from the Northeastern United States with a macho attitude, a cultural level considered to not be the highest, prejudices against nonwhite ethnicities and races, and a love for gold chains and slicked-back hair. It is particularly associated with New York City, Long Island, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Buffalo. It originates from the large Italian-American population of the region ; however, there are "guidos" from a variety of white ethnic backgrounds. Which raises the questions: #1 Why would you want to adopt a term that would make fun of you? Low cultural level isn't a compliment, its a nice way of saying you might be a step up from trailer trash. #2 Do you love the Sopranos, The Godfather, and every other Italian Mafia based storyline so much...you have to dress like them? Don't ever make fun of those nerdy guys in class who do Dungeons and Dragons, because after all, aren't they both fantasies? You wont ever be an Italian mobster, and the dorky guy in class isn't ever going to be a dungeon master. #3 "Prejudiced against nonwhite ethnicities and races." Because that's what America is about bitches. For those who haven't seen the show, you haven't missed much. It is an obviously staged reality show that has a frat boy or college feel. They get drunk, they scream at each other, the randomly hookup and scream more, fist fights, and more stereotypes. It has the IQ level of a gerbil and entices viewers with promises of more fights, one night stands, and more drama. The show can be seen on MTV along with other low quality reality shows such as, Teen Mom 1 & 2, The Hills, The Real World, MTV's 16 and pregnant, Made, and True Life. Most of which don't promote any sort of class and encourage viewers that substandard social behavior is acceptable. Trailer Trash, Without the Trailer! The characters on the show live up to MTV standards. The more famous "Snookie" is a short, loudmouthed idiot who will most likely have skin cancer in 5 years. What? You didn't think she was born orange? Most of the characters are this strange shade of orange, as if they think orange is a healthy skin tone, on top of the leathery appeal. YUMMY. All in all, Jersey Shore is another failed MTV attempt to show what America is really like. Sad enough, they might be right. |

Ah America, Land of the Free & home of the incredibly fat and stupid. What can I say about Jersey Shore that hasn't already been said? Jersey Shore is a reality show about the “hottest, tannest, craziest Guidos.” First of all, lets back up for a moment and look at the definition of GUIDO.
